Recently, Whitney worked with long-time partner, German multinational engineering firm Bosch Engineering and Manufacturing Company, on their Automotive Aftermarket division, which now occupies 110,000 square feet at Oakbrook Terrace Tower. In the Helmut Jahn-designed tower, Whitney designed a dynamic floorplan that builds connections among employees and celebrates the Bosch brand.
The 31st-floor penthouse, known as the Skyview Room, serves as the central welcome and gathering space for employees and clients. The four atriums are intensely illuminated thanks to large windows. They feature modular furnishings and supportive IT, creating an ideal environment for collaboration. One area is a fully enabled smart room that serves as an adaptable conference center for workshops and brainstorming sessions.
A range of collaborative environments placed prominently throughout the office are intended to build rapport among employees. Work cafés and lounge spaces flank either side of each floor’s reception area, setting the stage for a workplace that fuels creativity and increases cross-functional collaboration. The crowning jewel is a pinnacled rooftop space with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Chicago Skyline.
Each floor is branded with elements that celebrate Bosch’s culture and identity. While the 27th floor focuses on innovation, product quality, and precision, the 28th floor highlights connectivity and global partnerships. Natural design elements and organic shapes harness movement and fluidity, emphasizing the forward-thinking and ever-changing nature of the company.
