Tasked with designing a space for the University of Illinois System that balanced prestige and accessibility, Whitney Architects was challenged to create an environment suitable for the university president, executive team, and visiting global dignitaries while remaining welcoming to students.
The design needed to exude sophistication without appearing extravagant, aligning with public expectations of responsible spending.
Drawing inspiration from the timeless aesthetic of collegiate design, Whitney blended traditional and contemporary elements to achieve an office that felt both refined and approachable.
