Whitney has worked with Option Care Health since 2016 on over 150 projects across the U.S.
As a major design standards initiative aimed at enhancing the programmatic and workflow requirements of Option Care Health’s pharmacies and infusion centers, the goal has been to build locations that embrace the best of design, technology, and patient care.
Option Care Health pharmacies require complex environmental controls for sterile pharmaceutical compounding, and their New York City location was no different.
To accommodate regional growth, they relocated to the third floor of a new four-story mixed-use building in Ridgewood, NY. The larger facility includes two separate clean rooms, ensuring continuous production if one becomes contaminated. Additionally, the facility offers views of the New York City skyline, even from inside one of the clean rooms.
As Option Care’s first facility in a multi-story building, the project presented new challenges for the design team, particularly in planning and integrating the necessary MEP infrastructure for the sensitive spaces.
Whitney collaborated closely with Option Care Health and the Stantec engineering team to test fit many iterations of space plans, working around existing building roadblocks, until a solution was found that accomplished all of the critical adjacencies required for efficient workflow and allowed for the simplest implementation of infrastructure possible.
